Making Roti Prata??

Is this the way to go about making bread? Prata Man?

So fun, I want to eat roti prata with curry!

But wait, its bread ie. cinnamon buns that we are making here.

Making Bread Part II

Frank is in the midst of preparing for his exams. So, we kept the kids at home all weekend. They got bored, I got bored, so I decided to make some bread. Had to use up the 5kg worth of baker's flour that he bought.

Its the first time Josh played with flour dough. He had much fun. As for Anna, she was quick to come up with very interesting designs for her bread.

Making Bread Part III

They all have a share of the dough. Josh and Anna enjoyed themselves thoroughly. We did baked the 'bread' that Anna rolled but not Josh's (haha)!

Home-made Popiah

Once again we did the popiah for lunch and this time was wonderfully tasty 'cos I managed to buy the real 'stuff' ie. the real turnip! Not that the last few times were unpalatable, its just tasted different. Somehow the so-called turnip from the local market just isn't quite the same as the asian ones.

Even Anna loves it this time, especially when we encouraged her to put more of the sweet sauce! Yum yum!

Cinnamon Buns

They turned out very yummy and even Anna likes it. She almost never like cinnamon stuffs. As for Josh, anything goes.

Just tonight, I cooked lady fingers (okra) in bean paste. Knowing that Anna does not take okra, I had to cook another veg for her. Then I thought, why not give some for Josh to try. . . he did not complaint or spit out. The other day, he had some samosa and did not mind the spicyness! He is a easy boy to feed!

Mr Baker Tay

Spent last Saturday baking bread and making pizzas.

Bread:
1. Sausage rolls
2. Cinnamon buns
3. Custard buns

All turned out delicious and the right texture.

Assam Fish

Not too bad a try for the first time. Can't say that I cooked it from scratch. Ha, sauce came from the bottle and just have to add onions, tomatoes and fish sauce. Was yummy with rice!

My Favourite - Date Scones

Finally, I modified the recipe and managed to baked these rather tasty dates, sultanas and plain scones.

Frank likes plain, Anna likes sultanas and I - dates. So all three are happy.

They tasted even better with cream (low-fat) and strawberry jam. Loved them for afternoon tea.

Pandon Chiffon

Frank and I missed the chiffon cake so he offered to buy me the pre-mixed. Well, it turned out to be rather heavy. According to chiffon eaters, this cake can pass off as a pandan cake but not a chiffon.

Baked Tapioca Kueh

Always enjoy this kueh back home and amazingly easy to make. It was soft and moist when its just baked from the oven. Yummy!

Steamed Sponge Cake

Yum Yum! This sponge cake turned out to be better than imagine. Anna likes it, perhaps it looks like a cupcake, somehow little children are attracted to small cakes. She actually asked me to bake her a smiley face birthday cake, although the last time she asked for a smarties-filled cake.

9 Layer cake

See if you can count the number of layers. . . 9??

NO - its only 7 layers 'cos I ran out of space in the steaming tray, also some of the layers were rather thick, unlike the Bengawa Solo ones, so thin and soft. Mine is soft too, so soft that it was difficult to cut it. But F said 'very nice' and not too oily, which is good. So, the two of us almost finished the whole lot! Not bad for the first attempt too!

Tiramusu First Try

This was an almost 95% eaten tiramusu cake that I made the other day. Always love the ones we buy at the cake shop. So, I decided to make it myself. I must say for the first try, it turned out to be very yummy and almost addictive. To stop myself from eating too much of it, I shared a quarter with our neighbour, another quarter went to the traffic warden outside our house and another quarter to F's classmates. Well, what you see in the pic was half of a quarter that I left for F.

Mini Sultana & Cranberry Scones

I love scones and so decided one day that I would make them. So, this was our first attempt. Anna helped me cut out the scones, they are rather tiny. Somehow the cute size attracted A and she ate a few when they were baked 'cos scones are usually not something that she would eat.
